For most of us, it is safe to say that 2019 was a great year for Bitcoin investors., and as we wait for New Year’s eve to kick in, we took the time to look at BTC, BCH, LTC, XRP, ETH, EOS, and DOGE for 2019. From the start of the year to the end and the biggest positive price movements each one recorded in 2019. On top of this, we have broken each crypto into Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4.

Check out the results below as it turned out to be an interesting year - unless something dramatic happens over the next few hours, the end of year stats are close enough to accurate as we grind out our last post for the year.

Happy New Year, God bless, and happy reading!

    Bitcoin (BTC) – Up $3,485 (+94.44%)

Biggest positive movement in 2019: 274%

If you read our report Crypto’s BTC Dubbed Best Investment This Decade - Cryptos Busy NYD, then you will already be satisfied that BTC was the best investment this decade, and overall, 2019 was a great year.

BTC began the year at around the $3,690 mark and ended with a prolific $7,175. That’s a huge change in fortunes after what many would say was a disastrous 2018. Anyone who did decide to invest at the end of 2018 and still owns that same investment will now be 94.44% better off (almost doubling their money).

Should you invest at the beginning of 2019? Well, it is hard to argue against it. Unless we have another 2018, 2020 is showing promise. Yes, we have heard it all before, and you may be asking what makes 2020 different?

Well, what about this for a bit of hype?

As for BTC’s performance over the year, we saw some highs and lows, and we will cover each quarter below. However, let’s start with the highs and lows throughout the entire 12 months period.

$3,360.53 was 2019’s low point which occurred on 8 February on what was a dark and gloomy day for BTC. However, tension rose and the hype was back as BTC rocketed to $12,575.90 by 10 July. A huge increase of 274% or in layman’s terms $8,215.37.

ETH started the year with a value of USD of $131.37 and despite some impressive growth spurts throughout June/July that put it above $300, it has come full circle to be worth roughly the same at $131.32 (-0.038%).

During those spurts, ETH experienced its year high of $324.14 on 27 June. As for its lowest value in 2019, that was $103.29 on 8 February. That means the largest positive movement came in at +213.82% and worth +$220.85.

All in all, a year of big ups and equally big downs – sums up the cryptocurrency quite aptly.

    Ripple (XRP) – Down $0.158388 (-45.07%)

Biggest positive movement in 2019: +64.74%

2019 was certainly not a positive year for anyone that was holding a substantial amount of XRP. As the start of 2019 kicked into action, XRP was worth $0.351359 and while it had similar growth spurts of up to a high of $0.472295 in the middle of the year, it has dropped $0.158388 (-45.07%) by the end of it.

The yearly high of $0.472295 was recorded on Jun 24th while the $0.181398 low was far more recent on Dec 18th.

The biggest price movement was from 30 January when XRP was worth $0.286655 and then moved up to $0.472295 on 16 May. The increase was worth 64.74% but as most people that invest in XRP tend to hold onto it, there is little chance many investors profited from this movement.

This is how XRP performed on a quarterly basis in 2019:

    Q1

    ·       Start: $0.351359

    ·       Finish: $0.308414 (-12.22%)

    ·       High: $0.372554

    ·       Low: $0.286655

    Q2

    ·       Finish: $0.395697 (+28.30%)

    ·       High: $0.472295

    ·       Low: $0.299613

    Q3

    ·       Start: $0.395697

    ·       Finish: $0.255024 (-35.55%)

    ·       High: $0.404572

    ·       Low: $0.239035

    Q4

    ·       Start: $0.255024

    ·       Finish: $0.192971 (-24.33%)

    ·       High: $0.308084

    ·       Low: $0.181398

Having lost close to half its value over a 12-month period, it would seem that 2020 may be a big year for Ripple – whichever way you look at it.

    EOS.io (EOS) – Up $0.035 (+3.54%)

Biggest positive movement in 2019: +279.55%

For many, EOS may have flown a little under the radar. This cryptocurrency has certainly enjoyed its fair share of ups and downs but overall, it can only be said that it has had a solid year.

Starting 2019 with a value of $2.54, it has now finished it with an increase in value to the tune of $0.035 (+3.54%). Still, with a value that soured to $8.35 on 1 June, it has since fallen back and even had its yearly low of $2.18 just a couple of weeks back on 19 December.

The last time EOS was worth this little was back on 29 January when recorded $2.20, but it was from here it reached its peak of $8.35 for 2019. This was also the biggest positive movement of 2019 worth a staggering +279.55% which was an increase of $6.15.

This is how EOS performed on a quarterly basis in 2019:

    Q1

    ·       Start: $2.54

    ·       Finish: $4.19 (+64.96%)

    ·       High: $4.28

    ·       Low: $2.20

    Q2

    ·       Start: $4.19

    ·       Finish: $8.35 (+99.28%)

    ·       High: $8.35

    ·       Low: $4.19

    Q3

    ·       Start: $8.35

    ·       Finish: $2.93 (-96.09%)

    ·       High: $8.35

    ·       Low: $2.79

    Q4

    ·       Start: $2.93

    ·       Finish: $2.63 (-10.79%)

    ·       High: $3.61

    ·       Low: $2.18

Can EOS continue to enjoy growth throughout the next 12-months? We are sure there are plenty of your on either side of that conversation.

    Dogecoin (DOGE) – Down $0.000319 (-23.93%)

Biggest positive movement in 2019: +113.45%

In 2019, DOGE lots nearly a quarter of its value after a difficult year on the volatile cryptocurrency markets. Like most other cryptocurrencies, it had a spike of increased value during June and July before spending the rest of the year slowly decreasing in value.

Doge began the year with a value of $0.002344, experienced its yearly low of $0.001859 on 6 February, enjoyed a high of $0.003968 on 5 July. The difference between the high and low point was +113.45%. However, eventually DOGE fell to record yearly loss of $0.000319 (-23.93%) for 2019.

It may have been a bad year, but the he biggest positive movement of +113.45% between February and July shows just how a wise investment in DOGE will have given some investors a tidy profit.

This is how DOGE performed on a quarterly basis in 2019:

    Q1

    ·       Start: $0.002344

    ·       Finish: $0.002079 (-11.98%)

    ·       High: $0.002399

    ·       Low: $0.001859

    Q2

    ·       Start: $0.002079

    ·       Finish: $0.003275 (+44.67%)

    ·       High: $0.003640

    ·       Low: $0.002452

    Q3

    ·       Start: $0.003275

    ·       Finish: $0.002381 (-31.61%)

    ·       High: $0.003968

    ·       Low: $0.002140

    Q4

    ·       Start: $0.002381

    ·       Finish: $0.002025 (-16.15%)

    ·       High: $0.002787

    ·       Low: $0.001971

Does this represent an opportunity for some to get in the action low? Or is it time that many more of you decide to dump your holdings?

And that rounds up our report for the New Year. As we mentioned in the beginning, the end of year stats are accurate unless a major percentage increase or decrease suddenly occurs within the next few hours.
